reSolve
reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry is a bold new national program to promote innovative and engaging approaches to the teaching and learning of mathematics in Australian schools. It is managed by the Australian Academy of Science in collaboration with the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers, and funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training.
The project is a key component in the National STEM School Education Strategy 2016–2026. It furthers the goals of ensuring that all students finish school with strong knowledge in mathematics, and ensuring that students are inspired and equipped to take on more challenging STEM subjects, including intermediate and advanced mathematics in the senior school.
Reports have highlighted the importance of providing quality school experiences in maths, and raising awareness of career and personal relevance of mathematics. The Maths Inside project will address these issues, by developing classroom resources to help teachers bring maths to life for high school students.
Maths300 is a collection of interesting maths lessons from classrooms across Australia and beyond. The lessons are innovative and, in addition to the lesson notes, provide a range of investigation guides, worksheets, extension problems, software, helpful hints from trial schools and reflective comments from teachers.
Dimensions is a site developed and hosted by the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) Inc. to assist with the professional learning of mathematics educators. It includes professional learning materials and related classroom resources along with an online community. Tools assist users to track their professional learning and to download reports of what has been recorded.
The Day Of STEM is a national initiative designed to raise the National IQ for STEM careers by inspiring the next generation of students through a self guided interactive, online STEM awareness experience called LifeJourney. The fully automated online experience enables students to test-drive their future by living a day in the life of STEM leaders.
Pivot - Transforming Teaching Practice (supported by AAMT)
Pivot’s online, evidence-based student survey, interactive results reports and independent debrief helps inform and guide professional learning goals for teachers and schools across Australia.
Subject to a sufficient number of teachers and schools being involved with Pivot, this collaboration with AAMT will see AAMT and Affiliates provided with information about strengths, weaknesses and the needs of teachers of mathematics. This data has the potential to inform the design of professional development by the Affiliates and AAMT.
