A Robotics Camp has been conducted in previous years, and represents a collaborative effort between MTANT, Centralian Senior College and Centralian Middle School.
The Robotics Camp sees students in the Southern Region challenged with a context before developing and refining their programming to make their robot do what they were hoping it would do. In the past, students have been challenged to make and program a:
Mine sweeper - sensing where chocolates (explosive mines) were hidden and sweeping them off the board
Sumo wrestler - competing against another Sumo wrestling robot.
With a Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) focus, the Robotics Camp is a good opportunity to expose students to some of the thinking and problem solving processes required in this space.
